Mod Mood Quilt Giveaway Winner

I enjoyed picking out a beautiful range of oranges for Debby Chester of NY, the winner of the giveaway. The 40th commenter out of 97, it seems that Debby was destined to win. Of all the entries she was the only one who talked about actively studying color at the time:

I am currently taking a color workshop & we all had to pick a “focus” color as a base for different color harmonies we are working on. I picked orange, which is my favorite color but the least favorite color of just about everyone else in the group. I love orange. It seems like such a happy color. Who could look at orange & feel sad or depressed. You just have to feel happy!

I love orange too. It's the color of creativity and the naval chakra. Orange is often used in fast food restaurants because it's thought to stimulate the appetite. It's also bright, cheerful, and daring. I also like orange for it's huge range from yellow to red. From the comments I received, blue continues to reign as the most commonly loved color (with green a close second). Blue of course it is the most common of colors, being the color of the air that surrounds us and the water that sustains us. Orange, on the other hand, being blue's complimentary, is one of the most rare and spectacular of colors. It's a color we mostly experience during transitions from day to night, between summer and winter. It is the only basic color named after an actual object in nature, the orange.

Congratulations Debby. And thanks to all who vividly shared their favorite colors. Color really is an extraordinary phenomenon, and gift from the Universe.

Rowing the Boat:

Are there any other orange lovers (or haters) out there? If you feel strongly about the color orange, let me hear from you.
