Portland was fun!
I don't know how bloggers post when they are on vacation, but I'm home now and here is a rundown of my Portland adventure.I biked all over the city, along the waterfront, and through Forest Park.
Bridges...
fountains...
people...
beautiful weather (this time of year) and beer abound.
Eating a big breakfast with my hosts Beth & Jeff at the Screen Door...
Fried Chicken and Sweet Potato Waffles!!!
The day before, we picked red currents and blueberries at a local farm.
Later my friends' daughter spun Sweetart Red Current Jam from our pickings. Yummm!!!
The day at the farm was followed by an evening at the local vineyard, with jazz, and delicious HUGE Oregon raspberries. Summer days are long - the sun set around 10pm.
My last day was spent visiting Multnomah Falls...
with Gwen and Scott...
joining the sight seers...
watching trains...
and kite surfers traverse the Columbia River.
The Oregon country side was stunning, and Portland, especially the East-side neighborhoods, reminded me a great deal of my hometown, Durham NC.
Finally I visited FOUR very different knit shops around Portland. Apparently Portlanders love to knit! I restrained myself and came home with only one skein, from my favorite shop Twisted. This lovely Pacific Northwest "artisan" sock yarn was made in Seattle.
I returned completely refreshed! Thanks for all of your Portland Bound suggestions.
