Quilts Acquired by The International Quilt Museum
These quilts and their stories are headed to The International Quilt Museum! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to be included in their permanent collection. They chose quilts from different era’s of my practice and my legacy will be noted in the history of quilting. Wow! It feels great to be valued as an artist in this way.
Their generous purchase has inspired me to list more of my work for sale. Check out my shop! Not everything is listed but I will continue to upload old and new works as time allows. Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey, I wouldn’t be here without the community that has supported me from my early farmers’ market days to now.
Georgia Maria Wood (1917-2003), 2004, a passage/bereavement quilt made from my grandmother’s clothes.
RBG Modern, 2012, was juried into the first Quiltcon in 2013.
Six Pairs of Pants, 2016, made during my residency at Recology, from military uniforms found in the San Francisco dump.
Prayer Banner REPENT, 2004-2007, a communal bereavement project mourning the lives lost in the Iraq war.
Joy Bubble, 2023, 55 x 77 inches, textile art, abstract freestyle quilt, found materials, lamé, velvet, satin commercial cottons; hand-quilted.
Joy Bubble is about finding my true colors and joy in the small moments and blessings of daily life, and renewed agency in the face of systems in need of repair.
This quilt looks great hanging vertically or horizontally.
Please note: Joy Bubble has been chosen for exhibition at Quiltcon February 20-25, 2024 in Raleigh NC. Potential owner must agree to make the quilt available for exhibition from January 5-February 26, 2024.
