Pause + Adventure = Inspiration / Sardinia

I traveled to Florence and Sardinia for three weeks… and now I’m back, and wondering how this “pause/adventure” will inform and shape me creatively.  After all isn’t that one of the reasons we take vacations?

I didn’t see any patchwork but I saw lots of color and patterns. I loved the hand woven / embroidery traditions in Sardinia, as well as the generosity and enthusiasm of the Sardinian people. I’m posting a few images that stir me as a document to refer back to. I’m curious to see how my vacation adventures may or may not show up in future creative endeavors.

Adventure is something that happens when things don’t go according to plan - or when your plans are loose and open to adventure. When we stay open to adventure it can lead to unexpected opportunities, in life and in our patchwork!  A vacation is an intentional disruption, and now that I’m home I’m curious to see how my routines and patterns will shift. I’m grateful for the beauty and experience of Sardinia. I feel forever changed.

Consider documenting some of the key moments of your vacation adventures this summer - even if it’s not quilt or sewing related. How does adventure and intentional pauses from your routine nurture and influence your creative growth. How do your patterns shift and routines change after your return?
